Maniac Magee Ch. 13
Amanda Beale had given up her room to Maniac Magee, since he needed a place to sleep at. So Amanda just had to sleep with the twins, who always drove her insane, but she actually liked sleeping with them for some reason.
Maniac Magee, acted as if he was born there, he kept everything nice and tidy, and did chores around the house, without anyone asking him too. Maniac slept on the floor with just a pillow, because he didn't like the feeling of sleeping on a mattress, he also liked to sit on the floor instead of chairs because he felt the same about them. Maniac kept the house all clean, Mrs Beale loved this, there would no longer be drawing all over anything and Maniac would take their dog, Bow Wow, on walks all the time. Also the twins liked taking baths now, which they never liked to, but now Maniac took it with them so everything around the house was much better.
But one day the twins found Maniac Magee and saw that he had little red blotched all over his body. So they took Maniac to the doctor, and they figured out that he had never had pizza before and that's what he had for dinner, so that's when they all found out, that Maniac Magee, was allergic to pizza.

Maniac Magee and Grayson went to get dinner. While they were eating, Grayson asked Magee if Black people ate the same food, and thought the answer would be no, but Magee told him that they eat the same exact food, such as mashed potatoes, meat loaf, gravy, corn and chocolate cakes! Grayson was shocked by all of that so he asked some more questions like if they used toothbrushes and if they drank out of the same cup, and if they had TVs beds couches and more. The answer to all of this was yes. Grayson has never been in a house like theirs, but Maniac explained to him that they were regular people just like us.
Later on Grayson was wondering if Magee wanted to move to his place, since he was sleeping in the baseball equipment room, Maniac said he was fine there. Before Grayson left he wanted him to tell some stories to Maniac, but didn’t have any to tell him. But right before he turned the lights off, Maniac asked him what he wanted to be when he was smaller? Grayson told Maniac that he wanted to be a baseball player.

Maniac told Russell and Piper that if they went to school for a week, then he would show them a shortcut to Mexico, which is where they wanted to runaway to. The boys went to school for that week, so Maniac wanted them to keep going, so the next thing he did was give them a large pizza if they went to school for another week. The next idea Russell and Piper thought of was for Maniac was to sleep between them. They started to get famous at school, people asking them lots of questions about him, and giving them knots for Maniac to untie. Maniac kept giving them large pizza’s but on week they decided they need more than a pizza, so they told him to go to Finsterwalds backyard and stand there for 10 minutes. Maniac did that; none of the kids could believe it, since he wasn’t scared at all! He also went knocking on the front door, to get them to go to school go another week. So he did that too. None of the kids thought he would be ok after that, but he was fine.Maniac Magee Ch. 36
